I have known Mr. Giocolano… (Sorry for being formal, but that’s what I’ve called him for the past 30ish years) and he was one of the nicest men that I have ever known. I’ve always admired the love he showed for his wife and family. From an outsider looking in, the Giocolano‘s were a model family. They were the type of family that I aspire to have within my own home. As I write this, I keep thinking of so many wonderful memories that I have from the Giocolano’s. Some happy.. (Renee’s mother playing her favorite birthday song… My name is Zoom and I live on the moon..) Some funny… (Michael and the video of his grandmother saying “Is she coming??” which we watched so many times that the tape was probably worn out. I hope he still remembers it, or I’ll look a little foolish). Some nerve-racking… Taking Mrs. G to see Mr. G when he was in the hospital in Manhattan)… And some glamorous.. like when we met at the Giocolano’s before going to prom. Even after listing all of these memories, I still have one last one that touched me, set an example for me, and makes me want to be a better person… When I was a teen, in the days before we all drove), I would hang around the Giocolano house with Renee and on many cold, or rainy nights Mr. Giocolano would load my bicycle into his van to drive me home. He didn’t need to do it, but as an extension of his family, he wanted to make sure that I got home safely. He was just that type of person and I will always remember his kindness.
